Eliana Light's Dayenu is delightful (video)

Better late than never, but not entirely too late.

My husband was kind enough to remind me that I'd forgotten to post this Dayenu by Eliana Light before the sedarim. But all is not lost--those who like trying new tunes for prayer might enjoy using Eliana's Dayenu melody as a delightful Shir HaMaalot for Pesach.

Oh, nuts (not to mention potatoes)--the price I pay for Pesach goes beyond bread

Nuts are a triple threat--they aggravate my IBS and SIBO (look them up) *and* my acid reflux *and* my kidney stones.

White potatoes aggravate my arthritis.

And just about every kosher-for-Passover bakery product contains nuts, white potatoes, or both.

I'm also both gluten-intolerant and dairy-intolerant, so doctoring up my vile-tasting gluten-free oat matzah by covering it with cheese and making matzah pizza isn't an option.

I love Pesach, but Pesach doesn't love me.  Just pass me more charoset, please.

Moses Isn't in the Haggadah (video)

Enjoy this video of a song by Eliana Light.

If Moses isn’t in the haggadah…what is?!

Join Eliana and her friends as they search for Moses all around the haggadah, the traditional guide for a Passover seder. Who knows what other amazing things you might find, and learn! A great new Passover song for kids and families.

Fundraiser: Rabbis for World Central Kitchen

Rabbi Menachem Creditor posted the following on Facebook:

"Please join this drive to raise funds for World Central Kitchen, organized by a rabbinic colleague, through “Rabbis for World Central Kitchen” (participation NOT limited to rabbis; ALL contributors are welcome). All funds go to WCK’s holy work."

My husband and I have already donated.  If you'd like to participate in the fundraising effort, you can donate here.

Update: Note that the "full" list of donors lists only 250 people, and that those who gave amounts less than $100 no longer appear on the list, but there were plenty of us listed at lower giving levels before Shabbat, so give whatever you can.

Sometimes I'd rather *not* watch the video

I like Beyonce's "Texas Hold Em," but I watched less than a minute of the video before I turned it off.

She's not the first one, and I'm sure she won't be the last.

Madonna was the earliest singer who annoyed me by prancing around the stage half undressed. Michael Jackson couldn't keep his hands off his crotch. What the heck does that kind of behavior have to do with *music?*

Just *sing,* darn it, and stop trying to sell sex at the same time!

Genesis, Chapter 37: Confusion reigns

My husband and I have been studying with Dr. Diane Sharon for years. She's an excellent teacher, in addition to being an old buddy--decades ago, we were members of the same synagogue. She gave such a close reading of the story of the sale of Yosef (Joseph) that I was left wondering who sold him to whom. First, Yehuda (Judah) said (in verses 26-27), "Let's not kill our brother--let's sell him." But it was Midianites who pulled Yosef out of the pit (verse 28)! And it appears to have been those Midianites who actually sold Yosef to the Ishmaelites. Then, just to get us thoroughly confused, verse 36 says that it was the Midianites who sold him to Potiphar in Egypt. Wait, what?

I've been asking the same question for months.

Did the U.S. airdrop food for the Japanese after they attacked Pearl Harbor? Did the British airdrop food for the Germans during the Blitzkrieg of London? Is Israel the only country that's expected *not* to treat its enemies as enemies?
